AI-powered maritime intelligence & workflow for shipbrokers
The market is already in your inbox.SmartLaycan puts it to work.
Positions, cargo orders, replies and follow-ups reach a chartering desk as free text, all day. SmartLaycan reads that flow, structures it, matches cargoes with ships and keeps every conversation moving — in one working environment built around the way shipbrokers already work.
The Map Open dry tonnage placed where each ship opens and counted by basin — read automatically from the day's circulars, not typed in. Product screens on this site carry illustrative data
The broker's day
The information is already there. It is just scattered.
A working dry-cargo desk receives one to two thousand emails a day. The market is in them — as free text, in every layout a house can invent.
- 01
Free text, all day
Circulars, FW/RE chains and one-line replies, wrapped in signatures and disclaimers. A single circular can carry four cargo orders.
- 02
The same ship, again and again
One vessel arrives from many houses, with figures that do not always agree — and each copy has to be read and reconciled.
- 03
Memory, spreadsheets, inbox
Matching happens in the broker's head, follow-ups hide in the mailbox, and commercially relevant information can disappear inside the inbox.

As received As read by SmartLaycanFrom information to opportunity
Every circular read. Every order beside the ships that fit.
SmartLaycan turns unstructured maritime correspondence into cargo, vessel and counterparty data, then puts it to work on one screen — the Desk. The commercial judgment stays with the broker.

Action
Take on, offer, follow up — or reject
- 1Source first. The circular as sent, one tab from what was read out of it.
- 2A structured order: quantity, ports, laycan, rates, commission.
- 3Worked out for matching: least and most to lift.
- 4SCORE and why: every component and every check in figures.
- 5The broker decides: Take on — or Reject.

Understand the flow
Every email is classified — position, cargo order, S&P or other — and read into 30+ fields per position and 45+ per order. Repeated copies of one ship merge into one card.
Find the match
Each order is set against the open positions in your freshness window, and each position against open orders. Gaps in a position are filled from the ship registry.
Know where to look first
SCORE ranks candidates on dates, geography, size, volume and freshness, and shows the figures behind every point. An unknown field never rules a ship out.
See the market
The same records drive the Map: ships by where they open, orders by where they load, filtered by region, basin, size and status. On subs and Fixed marks take a ship off the desk.

From opportunity to managed workflow
Finding the opportunity is only the beginning.
Every offer that leaves the desk becomes a case, kept in view until there is an answer — and an outcome.

Take on
The offer is prefilled from the order and goes out as a reply in the counterparty's own thread. The case opens by itself.
Group offers & mailings
One message to several houses, or to a slice of the Map — and every recipient gets a case of its own.
Answers & follow-ups
Replies are recognised automatically. One action reminds every silent counterparty, each in its own thread.
Outcomes & history
Cases close as fixed, lost or expired. Closed cases stay searchable and can be reopened.

Correspondence turned into counterparty intelligence
Companies, people, roles and fleets are inferred from the mail, with the evidence shown. Every ship gets a card: specifications from its circulars, disputed figures to settle once, and who speaks for it.
ORIENT PEARL ✎
A named owner beats the circulars, survives a rebuild, and is offered as a recipient when an offer goes out on this ship.
| Role | Company | Claimed in | Why it stands here |
|---|---|---|---|
| owner | 174 of 174 yesterday | Names itself owner more often than any other house — others claiming it: 9. |

Messages
The underlying mailbox, full-text searchable. Every record traces back to the email it came from, and replies go out under your own signature.
Analytics
Baltic dry indices and time-charter averages, tanker rates, bunkers and fixtures — read from the daily market reports the desk already receives.
Built for a team desk
Personal sign-in, case leads, per-person read state and a log of every shared change; the broker's own answer always wins. English and Russian interface.
Your desk, your data
The correspondence stays yours. So does every decision.
In your own database
Emails, structured records, cases and every decision are kept in the desk's own PostgreSQL database — searchable back to the first email, and never pooled with anyone else's.
A model route you choose
Emails are read either on a dedicated GPU or through a zero-data-retention route, where providers may neither keep the mail nor train on it.
A person presses Send
SmartLaycan proposes; the broker decides. Nothing leaves the desk without a person, and every shared change is signed with a name.
The people behind it
Technology built by people who know both the code and the trade.
SmartLaycan joins two decades of software engineering with two decades of practical shipping and shipbroking. It was shaped around the correspondence, the vocabulary and the daily routine of a working brokerage desk — not designed from the outside.
- Built around real shipbroking workflows
- Tested in a real working environment, on live market flow
